Amendments to the Chinese New Year family event
We are looking forward to welcoming families to our Chinese New Year family events tomorrow, Saturday 1 February.
In light of the coronavirus outbreak, our event partner Cambridge China Centre has taken the decision to cancel some planned activities. The Jade Emperor’s Great Race storytelling and the calligraphy workshops will no longer run. Anyone who has bought tickets to these events will be reimbursed through Cambridge Live. The papercutting and lantern making activities are also cancelled.
Activities will now be as follows:
- Lion dance (all ages on front lawn – weather dependent, 13.00–13.20)
- Tai Chi (all ages on front lawn – weather dependent at 12.00–12.20 & 14.00–14.30)
- Treasure Hunt Trail: Chinese New Year Zodiac. Search for special Chinese Zodiac animals in the Museum’s collection (all ages, 12.00–16.00)
- Family tour (14.00–14.30 & 15.00–15.30 • Ages 6+)
- Storytelling by museum staff (14.30–15.00 & 15.30–16.00 • 2–5-year-olds)
All activities are free and drop-in, but number restrictions apply. Children must be accompanied at all times.
Cambridge China Centre has launched a campaign, 'Cambridge Stands with Wuhan', to raise funds for medical aid and support families of medical staff who have lost their lives to this virus.
