Christmas at the Fitzwilliam, 2018
This Christmas we have the below four exhibitions, and a variety of displays, on show for you to enjoy:
Collecting and Giving: Highlights from the Sir Ivor and Lady Batchelor bequest
Print REbels: Haden, Palmer, Whistler and the origins of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers
Amateur Etcher of Distinction: Prints by Francis Seymour Haden
Sampled Lives: Samplers from The Fitzwilliam Museum
We also have a selection of free resources, including drawing materials, available to pick up at any time too. Those with babies (0-2 years) can pick up a play mat containing carefully selected resources that connect with themes and objects in the collection. Little ones (2-6 years) can benefit from our Story Starter satchels containing a picture book and activities to explore the galleries. Whilst those with 5-12 year olds can complete games and puzzles to journey around the museum with one of our Fitz Kits, or choose from a selection of themed gallery trails. Visit the Families page of our website for more information. And join us for our Family First Saturday on 5 January (14.00 – 16.00) for activities and art-making on the theme of ‘start with art.’
Plus, seasonal treats will be available in the café, including mince pies and hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows. And our shop will be open for you to browse and buy. Favourites this season include a new line of jewellery, a great selection of games and puzzles. And don’t forget our custom print site for a truly unique gift.
