Italian art from the 16th to 17th centuries, with a concentration on artists working in Venice is the central theme of this gallery where you will find works by Canaletto, Poussin, Titian, Tintoretto, Salvator Rosa and Guercino.
The central bay is dominated by three large paintings, by Veronese, Palma Vecchio and Titian, acquired by Viscount Fitzwilliam at the auction of the collection of the Duc d’Orléans after the French Revolution.
To complement the paintings there is also Italian furniture and sculpture from the same period on display as well as a selection of tin glazed painted earthenware maiolica.
