About Learning Research

Learning research helps us to better understand interactions between people, museum spaces and objects. We are committed to understanding and sharing different voices, experiences and perspectives from within the museum, university and wider community. Our programme celebrates the museum as a place for creative experimentation, for curiosity, and for exploring, developing and testing ideas.

Current research interests include:

  • The value of museums and culture and the difference they make to people's lives
  • The development of practitioner-led action research focusing on the what, how and why of museum practice
  • The experiences of children under 5 in the museum
  • Creative teaching pedagogies in the museum
  • The health and wellbeing benefits of cultural engagement with museums

You can read more about our learning research projects on the Research Projects Page.
